Easter is such an important time of year for all churches around the world, and to us here at Breathe New Life. Easter technically starts on Ash Wednesday, which is the start of Lent and the day after pancake day (Shrove Tuesday)! The season of Lent lasts for forty days (not including Sundays) and is a time for some to fast or give up treats following the example of Jesus, who fasted for forty days in the wilderness.

Holy Week is the name given to the week beginning on Palm Sunday and ending on Easter Sunday. On Palm Sunday, Jesus arrived in Jerusalem to crowds and cheers; however, only days later, He was crucified on a cross. The day we remember Jesus’ death is known as Good Friday. On Easter Sunday, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, who died on the cross for our sins and then rose again three days later!
