Covenants & Contracts (Baptism Sunday)

On Baptism Sunday, Ps Paul Jukes shares a message about the difference between covenants and contracts with particular reference to Isaiah 54, verse 5 which says, “your maker is your husband.” Just as a marriage should be a covenant rather than a contract, so should our relationship with God; a relationship based on trust and one that is not self-centred but rather other-focused. During the engagement period, a bride waits for the wedding celebration and prepares for the arrival of her groom. Similarly, we have all entered into a covenant with God and are all waiting for the return of Jesus, the bridegroom. During this period, we are to be committed, be honest and be reliable.
