Births, Baptisms and Burials

When all the people were being baptised, Jesus was baptised in the Jordan river too (Luke 3:21). When we get baptised today, we can know that Jesus is stood there with us, praying and identifying himself with us. Baptism is one way in which we can identify ourselves with Jesus and follow in His footsteps. As He was baptised, Jesus was announced as God’s son. We too, can be born of God, if we choose to receive Him and believe in Him (John 1:12-13). Finally, just as Jesus’ burial proved that he had died and paved the way for his resurrection, we too are buried with him through baptism, and just as Christ was raised from the dead, we too may receive new life (Romans 6:4.)
