KEEPING FIT (SPIRITUAL EXERCISE)
Prayer
Krystian Belicki & Anita Bates
Krystian Belicki argues that prayer is simple, but it is not easy. He outlines 3 gaps that exist in making prayer difficult: the gap of knowledge, position and persistence. Learning to pray is not easy, therefore, we need to listen, watch and practice in order to learn. Then we can teach other people to pray! The gap of position is also significant, because, if we don’t know our position to the Father whom we pray to, we will always find prayer difficult. Prayer isn’t about performance, it is about a relationship with our father. Finally, it is not easy to keep praying persistently, especially when the answer to our prayer isn’t exactly what we are looking for.
Forgiveness
Anita Bates
Anita Bates shares about forgiveness in light of our spiritual fitness and spiritual rest. Jesus invites us to hand our burdens over to Him and He will give us rest (Matthew 11:28-30). Unforgiveness is a burden that we should not be carrying as it weighs us down and damages us. We need to learn to forgive in order to grow and the way in which we do that is by first of all praying, seeking wise counsel, and finally by accepting the promise of God’s rest. (Hebrews 4:1).
