FRUITFULNESS

Personal Fruitfulness

Ben Hodgson

Ben looks at the miraculous events that took place in 2 Kings 4, in which Elisha instructed a desperate widow to find and fill as many jars as she possibly could with olive oil. The miracle came when she started pouring; however, she had to first of all find the oil. Like many of us, we can miss the oil (or the fruit) in our lives because we see it as insignificant and small. We also need to find jars (or containers) to pour the oil into. These may be disciplines, habits and routine that help protect the fruit and are also the people who are in our lives. It is clear that our own personal fruitfulness can lead to our corporate fruitfulness as a church or the fruitfulness of our own families, providing that we, like Jesus and like the widow in the story, keep on pouring.
