ROOTED TO RELATE

The Anatomy of a Great Mentor

Matt Oakes

Using the example of Paul and Timothy, Matt Oakes shares about what make a great mentor. A great mentor encourages, imparts wisdom, reminds you of the big picture and points you to Jesus. Matt concludes by encouraging us to find a Paul who can be our mentor and a Timothy, whom we can mentor.

Samson & Delilah (How NOT to do it)

Dave Leese

As part of our Rooted to Relate series, Dave Leese shows us how not to do it, by using the example of Samson and Delilah (Judges 14-16) who were in an unhealthy relationship. Samson got into trouble because he was watching and trusting the wrong people. He trusted Delilah too much and gave away the secret to his strength; his long hair! He was so focused on Delilah that he couldn’t see God and it was only when he had his eyes gouged out that he could finally see the bigger picture! God had not finished with Samson. When he called out, God gave him victory over his enemies again. God can do the same for you, no matter what struggles you are facing.
